“Customers will come with an idea to measure a certain environment, humidity, gas, etc., which is not readily available in the market. They will do the chip design for that particular application and work with our engineers to do the package solution.” This is an essential aspect in automotive MEMS fabrication, as these chips are different from standard silicon devices because of their need for interaction with the external environment. With their reliability testing solutions, UTAC ensures product resistance against heat, cold, damp, and wet climates. The packaging also has to be able to allow the chip to sense the external environment; a requirement that is relevant in auto sensors as well.

With a large engagement in an SMT type product which is powering revenue growth toward the second half of next year, UTAC is adding resources in engineering and RnD. UTAC is focusing on major programs that will help it support its customers, build partnerships, and engage long term with trust, to support client revenue.
